Benedictory message on Shivaratri by Parama Pujya Swamiji during morning program, Feb 18, 2023.
Jaya Guru Datta. Om Namaha Shivaya. Shivaya Rudraya Namaha. It is said that one Shivaratri in a lifetime is enough. We should productively use the energy of Shivaratri and submerge in Dhyana, Upavasa (fasting)and Jagarana (night vigil) on this day. Upavasa and Jagarana are very important on this day. They keep the senses vigilant. We worship Jnana on Shivaratri. That is why, we should not miss Shivaratri. For the enlightened, one Shivaratri is enough. The day we attain liberation is Shivaratri. Why this day has gained so much significance is that Shiva represents Sampoorna Jnana. Those who know Shiva and worship Him go to Shiva Loka.
The purpose of Shivaratri is greatly extolled. The 10 indriyas are vigilant this day in the presence of God who is in the form of Bindu. He is the formless as well as visible God. That is why He is in the form of Bindu (dot).
Why are we worshiping that omnipresent Paramatman today? When Brahma and Vishnu had a debate about Shiva Tattva, they take on the challenge to measure the extent of Shiva’s toes and head. Vishnu travels downward to see Shiva’s feet. Brahma travels upward to see Shiva’s head. This journey continues endlessly. Yugas pass. Finally Vishnu accepts defeat and concedes that the darkness in Him is gone, the Lord enlightened him. He said - I thought I knew everything, but I cannot even see the Lord’s feet. Vishnu accepts that Shiva is omnipresent and returns. Brahma too cannot find Shiva’s head, but is hesitant to return. As he travels, a petal of Kedara flower floats down with enchanting aroma. Brahma asks the petal where it came from. The petal said it slipped from Shiva’s head, but does not remember when it fell. Brahma holds the petal and instructs the petal to bear false witness that Brahma saw Shiva’s head. Out of fear, the petal agrees. Brahma then sees a cow and the cow tells Brahma that it has been falling for a long time. Brahma asks the cow also to bear false witness about Brahma having seen Shiva’s head. The cow accepts out of fear. Brahma brings them both to the assembly of Gods. In the assembly, Vishnu concedes that he could not see the feet of Shiva. Brahma on the other hand says he saw Shiva’s head. He then describes Shiva’s head as per his imagination. He then presents the cow and the petal as witness. The cow nods and the petal intensifies its aroma. Shiva then comes down in a tiny form and asks - When did you see my head? They are bearing false witness. Since the cow lied, it will be worshiped only on the back, not the front. The products that come from the cow’s behind have great medicinal value.
The cow then pleas with the Lord saying - The body from navel up is considered heaven whereas from navel down is considered hell. Shiva says that that hold true only in the case of humans, but the region navel down for the cow is also heaven. The entire body of the cow is heaven.
The Lord then says to the petal - You will not be used for worship of me or Vishnu anymore. You may be used for decoration, but not worship.
Today, do as much Shiva Japa as possible. Shiva likes Abhisheka. He bears Ganga on his head. He is never satisfied with the amount of Abhisheka. We are chanting his name, singing Bhajans, singing Keertanas in his praise. We should chant this name 24 hours. Shiva Linga rises at midnight. All regions under earth are considered Patala region and above are considered Svarga region. If we worship the Lord as all pervading and offer Japa, Tapa, Puja, Homa etc., the Lord teaches us His true Tattva.
This Shivaratri is very peaceful. After the 2-3 events (Srisailam, Sahasrachandra etc) prior, most people are observing Shivaratri at home. May it be this peaceful in the night as well.
You all heard saw the experiments with Cow urine and Cow dung. Vibhuti as well as incense are made with cow dung in the Ashrama. You all may take them home.
At one point, I could not stand Facebook. Then, one day, I decided to do Prachara through Facebook. I did not want to touch Facebook until then. ジャヤ・グル・ダッタ。オム ナマハ シバヤ。シバヤ・ルドラヤ・ナマハ。一生に一度のシバラトリで十分だと言われています。私たちはシバラトリのエネルギーを生産的に使い、この日はディヤーナ、ウパヴァサ（断食）、ジャガラナ（寝ずの番）に没頭すべきです。この日、ウパヴァーサとジャガラナはとても重要です。これらは感覚を常に鋭敏させるものです。私たちはシヴァラトリにジュニャーナを礼拝します。ですから、私たちはシヴァラトリを見逃すべきではありません。悟りを開いた者にとっては、シヴァラトリは一度で十分です。私たちが解脱を達成した日がシヴァラトリです。なぜこの日がこれほど重要な意味を持つかというと、シヴァ神はサンプールナ・ジュニャーナを象徴しているからです。シバを知り、シバを崇拝する者はシバ・ロカに行きます。
シヴァラトリの目的は大いに称賛されています。10人のインドリヤはこの日、ビンドゥの姿をした神の前で警戒しています。彼は形なき神であると同時に、目に見える神でもあります。だからこそ、彼はビンドゥ（点）の形をしているのです。
なぜ今日、私たちはその遍在するパラマートマンを礼拝しているのでしょうか？ブラフマーとヴィシュヌがシヴァタットヴァについて議論したとき、彼らはシヴァのつま先と頭の大きさを測ることに挑戦しました。ヴィシュヌはシヴァの足を見るために下へ下へと移動します。ブラフマーはシヴァの頭を見るために上へ上へと移動する。この旅は果てしなく続く。ユガが過ぎ去ります。最後にヴィシュヌは敗北を受け入れ、彼の中の闇がなくなっていることを認め、主は彼を啓発しました。彼は言った - 私はすべてを知っていたと思ったが、私は主の足さえ見ることができません。ヴィシュヌはシヴァが遍在していることを受け入れ、戻ってきます。ブラフマーもシヴァの頭を見つけられませんでしたが、戻るのをためらいました。彼が旅をしていると、ケダラの花の花びらが魅惑的な香りを漂わせながら落ちてきました。ブラフマーは花びらにどこから来たのか尋ねます。花びらはシヴァの頭から滑り落ちたと言ったが、いつ落ちたかは覚えていない。Brahmaは花びらを抱きかかえ、BrahmaがShivaの頭を見たという偽りの証言をするように指示します。花びらは恐れをなしてそれに同意する。次にブラフマーは牛を見、牛はブラフマーにずっと前から落ちていたことを告げる。ブラフマーは牛にも、ブラフマーがシヴァの頭を見たという偽の証人を立てるように頼みます。牛は恐怖のあまりそれを受け入れる。ブラフマーは二人を神々の集まりに連れて行く。集会でヴィシュヌは、シヴァの足を見ることができなかったと認める。一方ブラフマーは、シヴァの頭を見た、と言います。そして、ブラフマーはシヴァの頭部を自分の想像のままに描写します。そして、牛と花びらを証人として提示します。牛はうなずき、花びらはその香りを強める。そしてシヴァは小さな姿で降りてきて、「いつ私の頭を見たのですか？彼らは偽りの証言をしているのです。牛は嘘をついたので、正面ではなく背面だけを拝むことになる。牛の背中から出る産物には、大きな薬効がある。
へそから上の身体は天国、へそから下の身体は地獄と考えられています。シバは、それは人間の場合だけであって、牛のへそから下は天国だと言うのです。牛の体全体が天国なのです。
そして、主は花びらに言いました。「あなたはもう私やヴィシュヌを崇拝するために使われることはない。装飾には使えるかもしれないが、礼拝には使えない。
今日、できるだけ多くのシヴァ ジャパを行いなさい。シバはアビーシェカを好みます。彼はガンガーを頭に載せています。彼はアビシェーカの量に満足することはありません。私達は彼の名前を唱え、バジャンを歌い、彼の賞賛のためにキールタナを歌います。私達は24時間この名前を唱えなければなりません。シバリンガは真夜中に昇ります。地上の全ての地域はパタラ地域とされ、それ以上の地域はスヴァルガ地域とされています。もし私達が主をすべてを包含するものとして崇拝し、ジャパ、タパ、プジャ、ホーマなどを捧げるならば、主は私達にその真のタットヴァを教えてくれるでしょう。
このシバラトリはとても平和です。2-3回のイベント（Srisailam、Sahasrachandraなど）の後、ほとんどの人が自宅でシバラトリを観察しています。夜もこのように平和でありますように。
皆さんは、牛の尿と牛糞を使った実験をご覧になったことでしょう。アシュラマでは、ヴィブーティとお香が牛糞で作られています。皆さんはそれらを家に持ち帰ることができます。
