“Just as the guru is sacred to a disciple, a disciple is equally so to the Guru. The disciple might speak ill of the Guru in his ignorance; still, if the Guru learns that a disciple is in need of help, He will always come to his aid.
“Base desires have their origin in the mind. Bhakti can bring the mind which is ever-changing and fickle, under control. Unless this is done, desires flare-up like fire. One should practice selfless ‘Bhakti’ towards god or Guru, surrendering one’s mind, body, and soul. Ego is at the root of all ignorance. When this “I”ness goes, ignorance also disappears. Ego comes in the way of selfless bhakti, and owing to ignorance, man corrupts himself as well as the environment. He is caught up in such a vicious circle, that he finds it difficult to comprehend things properly.
“Satyabhama lost Krishna to Narada in an argument. She was prepared to give Narada an amount of gold equivalent of Krishna’s weight in order to get back Krishna. All the jewelry and gold possessions of Satyabhama proved too light in the scales against Krishna’s weight. She had to curb her pride and ask Rukmini to help her out of the predicament. Rukmini had nothing to offer except her love and devotion. She put a Tulsi leaf over the heap of gold. The scales became even. It was not gold that was required, but true love, and selfless devotion.” –Sri Swamiji

「グルが弟子にとって神聖であるように、弟子もグルにとって同様に神聖である。弟子は自分の無知から、グルの悪口を言うかもしれない。それでも、もしグルが弟子が助けを必要としていることを知ったら、グルは常にその弟子を助けに来るだろう。
"卑しい欲望は心に由来する。バクティ（信愛）は、常に変化し、気まぐれな心をコントロール下に置くことができます。そうでない限り、欲望は火のように燃え上がります。神やグルに対して無私の「バクティ」を実践し、自分の心、体、魂を明け渡すことである。エゴはすべての無知の根源である。この「私」が消えれば、無知も消える。エゴは無私のバクティの邪魔をし、無知ゆえに、人間は自分自身と環境を腐敗させる。このような悪循環に巻き込まれ、物事を正しく理解することが難しくなってしまうのです。
