“Devotion to God or Guru and renunciation of ego (‘aham’) are two sides of the same coin. True devotion and ego do not go together – they cannot be co-existent. So long as there is any trace of ego, devotion will need to be ripened to become true devotion.

If you claim yourself to be a devotee, you should stand the test of devotion of these incarnations and then ask yourself, whether you are a true devotee. In fact, it does not lie within a true devotee to pronounce himself like that. How can a devotee be a judge of his devotion?
